Sunshine Coast & Brisbane Wedding Photography | Kariz-Matik Photography bio picture

The Cliffs Notes:

- Julian / Jules / Hulio.

- Sunshine Coast based.

- But shoot 90% of my Weddings EVERYWHERE else.

- Travel. It rocks my teeny, tiny little size 13 socks.

- Wedding Photographer.

- Happiness is what drives me.

- Love & Lovers are what inspire me.

- Addiction: Starbucks.

The Essay:

I'm a bit different to what you would traditionally expect of a Wedding Photographer. I'm a 6'3", bald, happy-go-lucky 22 year old who has traveled the world over and found his way back home again. I live for the thrill of everyday life and all it includes; whether it is Sunday afternoons with friends, family or the love of my life, Jacinta.. Or even playing fetch with our pet Labradoodle, Eddie.

But that is enough about me; I'm not here to tell my story, I'm here to tell your story. I'm here to capture your day, intricately. I'm here to photograph you getting ready at 5 A.M, if you'd like me to. I'm here to party with your friends and family, once I've finished taking the "nice photos" -- Better hide the 'Robot' and 'Thriller' dance-moves, unless you want em' caught on camera! ;-)

I'm here, simply, for you. And of course the Starbucks Coffee when we meet up to discuss your gorgeous day. So jump on over to the contact page to find out how you can get in touch. If you'd love to meet up, chat, have a laugh and go over a few wonderful Wedding photo's with me in person... I'll be there.

The Photos:

If you'd like to see some of my latest work, you can, simply by scrolling down. There are quite a few pages; some with personal stuff and some with professional stuff. If you couldn't be buggered scrolling, though, then check out the "Portfolio" link in the top menu. There is a select few of my absolute favorite, recent works. Want more? Come grab a coffee at Starbucks with me. There are a few dozen to check out! And of course, no pressure!

The Investment:

If you'd like my current packages price-list, then jump on over to the contact page and give me an email or call. I'll be happy to get you caught up on all the intimate details - High resolution CD's, Albums, Prints.. Whatever you want, I can do. Except Spam & "Mailing Lists" -- I'm afraid that would cost you extra.

Kristen & Steve [SNEAK-PEAK]

Kristen is one creative cookie, ladies and gents. She organised a fully-themed Engagement Shoot (two of them, actually) — This being part one of it and a little of part two. Part one is vintage – It’s awesome. It’s WWII planes and her mothers 21st dress. It’s Steve in an entire get-up bought from op-shops, just for this occasion. It’s rad, pretty much. Part two.. is a bit more messy. You’ll get to see that soon, too, I promise.

But for the time being, check out these awesome shots we got, vintage style at it’s best. Yeah, yeah!

Hair. Make-Up. Botanical Gardens.

Steven Elmer and I went down to the Botanical Gardens in Brisbane this past Sunday to shoot some gorgeous guys and gals. It was a great bit of fun and with all of them done up to the nines by professional hair stylists, make up artists and an event coordinator, it was a breeze to shoot.

Hair Styling, Event & Fashion Coordinator & over-all cool chick, Jasmine McDonald did up all the models. While her sister, Katy Lee McDonald took care of the Make-Up side of things – And what an awesome job she did, too!

The models were rad and deserve a mention, too. The guys consisted of Cameron Buckingham, Ryan Schoenberger & Gareth Johnsen. While the girls consisted of Emily Asher, Letitia Gabrielle Britt & Ally Scott. If you’d like to hire any of these wonderful people, please get in touch with either Jasmine McDonald, Steven Elmer Photography or even Katy Lee McDonald.

Check em’ out,

Maxine & Shaun [SNEAK-PEAK]

Shaun & Maxine. You are both way, way too cool for school. I don’t know what stood out more in this Wedding for me; the ‘Snoop Dogg’ playlist and ringtones while Shaun was getting ready.. Or how adorable Maxine’s parents were, organizing even the littlest of details, all the way up to the Ceremony and final “I do”.

I’m sure you’re both keenly aware by now of how lucky you are; but you really pulled a fast one to go from a week of monsoonal rain, to perfect blue skies and no clouds to be seen, the entire day. To say I enjoyed your Wedding as a Photographer or even simply a Guest, would be a massive understatement.

I want more Canadian Wedding’s after shooting this one. So, all you Canadian’s out there, you’ll get a discount if you book with me…. Kidding. Sort of. I hope your honeymoon was a blast and the drive wasn’t too long (Hehe, inside joke.) — Here is your sneak-peak Shaun & Max, enjoy it!

P.s…. Sorry dial-up users. It’s kind of a big one. Broadband users, you may want to give it a second ;)

Air Museum

We went for a walk through the Caloundra Air Museum the other day, just because we could.. We’re dying to take a model back here one of these days and really rock out some funky shots. Any models (Or Brides to be, for that matter) on the Sunshine Coast who are willing – Hook it up, ASAP!

New Camera… Thankfully, mine.

After playing with Steve’s D700 I knew I had to race out and buy the Canon equivalent — A Canon 5D Mark II. Most would think I was a bit late to the game, but hey.. I was content with what I had for quite some time. But the 5DMKII was too hard to pass up this weekend.

Shooting a Wedding tomorrow.. But for now, you’ll have to make do with some fun, laid-back, Sunny Coast junk. Enjoy,

New Camera.. Sadly, not mine.

I had a play on Steven Elmer’s Nikon D700 today. All I have to say is…. Canon, catch up. Seriously. This camera has the best noise handling, ever. Mixed with 51 focal points – It is an absolute dream to shoot with, especially with a 35mm lens on it wide open!

Tara & Ryan [SNEAK-PEAK]

Tara’s been wanting some shots of her 3 1/2 year old son, Ryan, for a while now. I’m in no way a Child Photographer, but we’ve known each other for something insane like 7 years, so we figured we’d catch up and try to get some shots at the same time.

We were up at first light (Literally, 6 A.M) at Point Cartwright – It is such a great spot! Ryan is so full of beans and such a fun kid to be around – It wasn’t hard getting photos, it turns out! The best part was, that not a single one of these shots was posed or “setup” in the SLIGHTEST.

I do have a new found respect for all the Children / Toddler Photographers out there, though! Enjoy your sneak-peak guys,

Shaun & Maxine [SNEAK-PEAK]

Winter really does rock my socks – I couldn’t imagine a better time or place to be a Photographer. And when you throw a couple like Shaun & Maxine into the mix; a flippin’ cool couple from Toronto, Canada, it makes my job… Well, pretty hard to beat.

Australia is practically Shaun & Maxine’s second home. Shaun is a Med Student at Nambour Hospital (So if you’re ever in a car accident around here; you’ll be waking up to this guy!) and Maxine is a Teacher in Sarajevo, Bosnia, but holidays here with Shaun.

We’ll be shooting their Wedding in 2 weeks time at M’Dore – And I can’t wait! For now guys, here is your sneak-peak to tie you over until the big, beautiful day. I’m off to make some Poutine (It’s a Canadian thing, eh?). Ps – Sorry about that random dog mauling you, too, Maxine :P

Irene & Jeff [SNEAK-PEAK]

The clock is ticking 2:32 A.M.

Jacinta is curled up in bed with the iPad, asleep.

5 hours of Photography sits in Lightroom, waiting.

I’m trying to stay awake, to take in all the awesome.

Jeff is probably still up, prepping his ass off.

Irene is probably asleep, having nightmares about Monday.

Monday wont be so bad this week. ‘Cause I have a surprise.

I made your sneak-peak super-sized, just to make you smile.

Goodnight, world.
